Cascade Mineralogical Society – Kent, Washington


CMS  is a non-profit educational organization. We welcome individuals interested in geology, mineralogy, paleontology, gems and related lapidary arts to join us. The objective of the club is to stimulate interest in the study of the earth sciences, lapidary arts and related subjects. These goals will be accomplished through educational presentations, personal experience and demonstrations at club meetings and other public presentations. The club also provides opportunities for field trips, rock collecting and social gatherings. We are located in Kent, WA.

All are welcome and membership is open to everyone.

    I have been so very busy working on the display cases, on behalf of CMS, for the Federation Show in Albany, Oregon at the end of July. With Bob Pattie, Tony Johnson, Jim Cerenzie, Mike Blanton and myself supplementing the WA Mineral Councils mineral samples I have been able to put together two comprehensive displays of what can be found in Washington.     Shop Classes or Work on Your Own Summer Hours Tuesdays: 4 pm to 8 pm Come and join us at the Club Lapidary Shop. There will be someone present to help you learn how to use the equipment and accomplish your goal is. Or you can work independently on your own projects. Shop fees: If you are a Club Member and help maintain the shop and equipment you can work for FREE.  In addition cutting on the big saws $5 per hour.   • August Meeting – It’s a Potluck & Auction!

    AUGUST MEETING INFO: August Meeting is our Club picnic on Sunday, August 14th. Arboretum at Lake Wilderness, Maple Valley At the entry to the park you will see a sign for the lake and lodge on the right hand road. The Arboretum is on the left road. As you drive down the left road you will see cars parked on the right. The picnic tables will be to the left side of this road.   Setup at 11 am. Picnic starts at 12 noon.
